Orange Business has been chosen by a European Union project to provide a secure and private communications network for public administrations across EU Member States.
The telecom giant has been selected as the network partner for TESTA-EIRIS (Enhanced Infrastructure for Reliable Interconnectivity and Security), an initiative aimed at modernising the EU’s digital communications infrastructure.
As a result, the project aims to securely connect EU institutions, agencies and Member States, with Orange Business providing the core network services needed to run the infrastructure and support its future growth.
It will work also with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Digital Services (DG DIGIT), which is responsible for designing, building and managing the wider system.
The new network is designed to improve security and make it easier for public administrations across Europe to connect and share information.
Orange Business will provide the main network infrastructure, supported by Network and Security Operating Centres. Meanwhile, the network will include at least 12 Points of Presence (PoPs) across five European regions, the company revealed.
The system will combine network infrastructure, cloud connections and Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology to securely connect sites across Europe.
