VodafoneThree upgrades 5G connectivity at Manchester’s Co-op Live

-

VodafoneThree has upgraded mobile connectivity at Manchester’s Co-op Live, bringing faster and more reliable 4G and 5G services to the arena.

The improvements follow a new technology partnership with Vodafone Business, which has seen dedicated network infrastructure installed throughout the venue.

The upgrade is designed to improve the experience for concertgoers while also supporting the arena’s daily business operations, the telecoms giant revealed.

The venue now also has 5G Standalone (5G SA) coverage, allowing eligible customers on Vodafone SuperMobile to access the company’s 5G+ FastTrack service. The network improvements were delivered with VodafoneThree’s infrastructure partner, Cellnex.

As well as improving connectivity for visitors, Vodafone Business is exploring how its business-only 5G+ network slicing technology, Vodafone SuperMobile for Business, could support Co-op Live’s future operations.

Potential uses include payment processing, staff communications, security systems, guest services and connected venue technology, ensuring essential services continue working smoothly during major events.

Co-Op Live Senior Vice President and General Manager, Guy Dunstan, said: “Our partnership with Vodafone Business forms a key pillar in our drive for technological innovation and excellence, tangibly elevating the in-venue experience for both fans and Co-op Live’s team members.”

Co-op Live is the latest major Manchester location to benefit from dedicated network improvements. Manchester Airport’s Terminals 2 and 3, as well as the Trafford Centre, have also received dedicated Vodafone 5G and 4G coverage. Meanwhile, Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) technology is being introduced at other locations across Greater Manchester, including mobile masts near Piccadilly train station.

VodafoneThree Network Director, Andrea Dona, added: “People are using more data than ever, particularly in busy venues like Co-op Live. Which is why we continue to invest to stay ahead of that growth and ensure our customers can continue to enjoy fast and reliable coverage, both now and into the future.

“The introduction of our 5G will also help Co-op Live and the businesses supporting it to thrive, giving them the connectivity they need to serve their customers, operate efficiently, and make the most of new digital opportunities.”
