    Alcatel-Lucent and Intersec announce location-based advertising tie-up

    -

Alcatel-Lucent and value-added software provider Intersec have signed a global partnership agreement to create location-based advertising solutions for operators and retailers.

The “GeoMarketing service” will enable mobile operators to connect brands and retailers to consumers via their mobiles based on their permission, preferences and location to drive in-store traffic.

    The service combines two solutions.

Intersec’s IGLOO tool collects and aggregates anonymised network data in real-time to provide efficient “in area” and “proximity” detection of all opt-in subscribers at a defined moment of the day.

A-L’s Optism Mobile Marketing product will be embedded with IGLOO to gather and analyse this location data to provide customers with relevant offers to drive in-store traffic.

The two firms said the solution will enable operators to deliver services including walk-in rewards, location-based targeted coupons and deals.

“We will be able to provide one of the most efficient location-based advertising solutions available for brands looking to communicate with their consumers via mobile devices,” commented Intersec CEO Yann Chevalier.
