Germany pricing starts at €149 for the AI-phone and €199 for the AI-tablet
Deutsche Telekom has introduced its first AI-integrated consumer devices, the T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2, in Germany and nine other European markets, marking a coordinated regional push to embed AI assistants directly into mid-range hardware.
The devices, positioned as part of the operator’s own-brand portfolio, incorporate the Perplexity Assistant for natural-language interaction via voice or text. The assistant is integrated at the OS level, activated by a dedicated button or power-key shortcut, and is capable of performing both online and device-based tasks. These range from text summarisation and email drafting to language translation, itinerary planning, and app-based actions such as booking services or initiating calls.
Deutsche Telekom previewed this direction at Mobile World Congress with an “app-free” smartphone concept, developed with Qualcomm and Brain.ai, that replaced traditional app interfaces with an AI-driven interaction model. The commercial launch of the T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2 represents the first large-scale implementation of that concept in DT’s retail portfolio.
Bundled services
In Germany, the AI-phone is priced at €149 SIM-free and the AI-tablet at €199. Both are available for €1 each when purchased with a tariff. The package includes an 18-month subscription to Perplexity Pro and, for the smartphone, a three-month Picsart Pro licence (500 credits/month).
In Croatia, for example, the AI-phone is offered from €3.99/month over 24 months with the UnlimitedGB tariff plan, or €248 prepaid. The AI-tablet is available at €6.49/month or €299 prepaid, with a book cover included. The Croatian offer mirrors Germany’s on bundled software: 18 months of Perplexity Pro (valued at €360) for both devices, and Picsart Pro for the smartphone. Hrvatski Telekom emphasises the combined value of AI software inclusions as exceeding €500.
In Poland, T-Mobile positions the T Phone 3 as an exclusive offering, available only through its network. The device is priced at PLN 969 (approximately €220) for outright purchase, or from PLN 40 monthly on a 24-month contract with just PLN 9 upfront when bundled with the unlimited tariff starting from PLN 75 monthly.
The smartphone package includes ANC TWE220 headphones and a case as complimentary gifts. The T Tablet 2 is available from PLN 1 for existing T-Mobile customers with unlimited 5G internet plans from PLN 70 monthly, or PLN 179 upfront when purchased with accessories (case and T-Pen stylus) and unlimited internet. Standalone pricing reaches PLN 1,379 with accessories or PLN 1,209 without.
Hardware features
Both models incorporate an upgraded chipset and faster charging. The AI-tablet uses TCL NXTPAPER display technology with three viewing modes, targeting reading, productivity, and creative use cases. A stylus is sold separately for €29.99.
From a sustainability perspective, the T Phone 3 holds the #GreenMagenta label and a 90/100 Eco Rating score. The T Tablet 2’s rear casing consists of 75% post-consumer recycled plastic, consistent with DT’s stated circular-economy objectives.
Deutsche Telekom’s move coincides with forecasts of rapid adoption for generative-AI-capable smartphones. IDC projects 912 million such devices will ship by 2028, representing 70% of the global smartphone market, with a CAGR of 78.4% from 2024. Kantar research identifies real-time translation, camera enhancements, and visual search as leading consumer drivers for AI-enabled devices in Europe – all features supported by the T Phone 3.
By offering AI capability in the mid-tier price segment and combining it with service bundling (Perplexity Pro, Picsart Pro), DT looks to be positioning itself to capture early-adopter interest without requiring premium-device investment from customers. The T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2 are available from today in Germany, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, and Slovakia, through direct and retail channels.
