This is the first commercial service on SA deployed across the country’s entire 5G footprint for use by sectors such as emergency services, energy, transport, industry and healthcare
Telia has launched Telia Critical IoT Connectivity, the first commercially available service in Sweden to use 5G standalone (SA) technology. It is available from today and has been developed to deliver the secure, stable and predictable connectivity required by IoT use-cases in sectors such as emergency services, energy, transport, industry and healthcare.
Building Telia Critical IoT Connectivity on 5G SA means the service can use capabilities like network slicing, ultra-low latency and increased security. 5G SA deployed across Telia’s Swedish 5G footprint and optimised for video and data. It better manages network traffic to provide greater reliability for key applications at peak times.
The new service drew on experience and insights gained from Telia’s NorthStar 5G innovation program which began in 2023. NorthStar connects a 5G innovation network with Telia’s public 5G network is to give partners early access to advanced 5G capabilities. Those partners include the Swedish Armed Forces and mining company Boliden.
Telia’s Swedish 5G network covers 99.9% of the population and more than 94% of the country’s land area. Fredrik Stenberg, Head of B2B, Telia Sweden, comments, “Through Telia Critical IoT Connectivity, we’re creating the conditions for companies and organizations to use new digital solutions in the most critical parts of their operations, where the demands are greatest, without compromising security or control.”
