EXA Infrastructure launches two European fibre routes

-

EXA Infrastructure has unveiled two new high-capacity fibre routes between Milan and Zurich and Paris and Vienna.

The two routes are part of the company’s plans to expand its European network and improve connections between major data centre hubs.

The move also gives customers more options for moving traffic across Europe and beyond, EXA revealed.

The 335km Milan-Zurich route completes the company’s 1,050km Frankfurt-Zurich-Milan-Genoa corridor, providing a direct connection between key data centre markets and the subsea cable hub in Genoa.

According to the EXA, it is the first carrier-grade, low-loss G.652.D single operated cable along this Alpine corridor. It has been built with hundreds of fibres and equipment sites that will allow capacity to increase as demand grows.

Meanwhile, the second route, stretching around 1,600km between Paris and Vienna, forms part of a longer connection linking London to the Balkans and Turkey, with onward access to the Middle East.

It also provides new routes between Paris, Frankfurt and Vienna, helping carry traffic arriving in Europe over transatlantic cables.

Additionally, both routes offer dark fibre, spectrum and wavelength services.

EXA Infrastructure, Head of Strategic Investments and Product Management, Steve Roberts, said: “AI and cloud traffic has outgrown the idea that diversity means a backup path.

“Customers want a choice of routes they can design around resilience, latency and capacity requirements. With Milan-Zurich we have completed a corridor that gives Frankfurt, Milan and Genoa the high-capacity connectivity they need, and with Paris-Vienna we have strengthened the route from London to the Balkans, Turkey and the Middle East.”

Roberts added: “Both are built to meet the demand our customers are planning for and extend our low-loss G.652.D footprint across Europe.”
