SES and Elveo Mobile have expanded their partnership to bring direct-to-device (D2D) satellite services to Europe.
As a resilt, the companies said the upgrade will will focus on providing mobile connectivity to customers, businesses and government users, as well as institutional and defence customers.
SES will use Elveo’s D2D technology to provide mobile connectivity from satellites, allowing devices to stay connected in hard-to-reach areas.
The two companies will also work on setting up satellite manufacturing and a supply chain in Europe for LEO D2D satellites.
The satellites will use Elveo’s own satellite bus, payload and software, they revealed.
The LEO satellites will be part of a wider multi-orbit network, working alongside SES’s existing GEO and MEO satellites.
Meanwhile, European customers will also be able to access Elveo’s D2D services through SES’s global distribution network.
