Nokia, Microsoft target faster AI adoption in telecom networks

Nokia has expanded its partnership with Microsoft to work with telecom operators to bring AI and network automation into day-to-day operations.

As part of the partnership, the two companies are developing a new data foundation that brings together Nokia Data Suite and Microsoft Fabric, in a bid to make trusted network data easier and faster for operators to access.

According to Nokia, its Data Suite provides ready-made telecom data products, while Microsoft Fabric brings data, analytics and AI tools together on a single platform.

By combining the two, operators can connect network data with information from other parts of their businesses without having to spend weeks preparing and integrating it.

The companies said the combined solution can be used across different network vendors and domains, as well as in cloud, hybrid and on-premises environments.

The move offers operators more flexibility as they introduce AI while still meeting regulatory and operational requirements, the telecom giant revealed.

Nokia Senior Vice President, Autonomous Networks, Vivek Jaiswal, said: “Nokia and Microsoft are bringing the right data, at the right time, for the right reason to telecom operators worldwide. Together, we are helping networks evolve from static infrastructures into programmable, AI-native platforms.”

The companies are also working on predictive maintenance, with AI agents analysing both historical and live network data to identify potential problems before they affect customers.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Telco & Media, Silvia Candiani, added: “Telecom providers are ready to move AI from experimentation into everyday network operations, but that requires trusted data, strong governance and platforms that can scale.

“By bringing together Nokia Data Suite and Microsoft Fabric, we are creating a faster path to turn complex network data into actionable intelligence.”
